SEIS / SEIS Billing

SEIS (Special Education Information System) is California's most widely used special education IEP program — a centralized, web-based system for writing IEPs, tracking services, and reporting to the state. It's used by over 950 school districts and 115 SELPAs statewide, supporting roughly 75,000 teachers and 700,000 special education students. SEIS Billing extends the platform to track and invoice the services those IEPs call for. Worked as a fullstack web developer on the platform.

CAPTAIN

CAPTAIN (California Autism Professional Training and Information Network) is a statewide network that trains educators, service providers, and families in evidence-based practices for supporting individuals with autism. Established in 2012, it connects California's Special Education Local Plan Areas, universities, regional centers, and family resource centers around shared, research-backed training resources. Worked as a fullstack web developer on the platform.

CodeStack Academy

CodeStack Academy is Stockton's first immersive coding school, run by the San Joaquin County Office of Education. The nine-month program combines instructor-led workshops, one-on-one mentoring, and real-world projects to train new software engineers for the local tech workforce. Worked as a student assistant and guest lecturer for the program.

My first role that required programming. Over seven years I moved from maintaining transit data to building the public-facing and internal systems that depend on it.

OneBusAway for San Joaquin RTD

OneBusAway is an open source Java application with a rich API for scheduled and realtime bus arrivals and departures. Deployed and maintained the RTD instance, formerly hosted at obartd.com.

GTFS / GTFS-RT maintenance and tooling

Audited RTD's public Google-standard dataset and automated error correction in both static and realtime feeds. Enabled realtime information in Google Maps transit trip planning, and built a tool that generates pole-mounted timetable displays automatically.

Maintained RTD's SMS arrival service — riders text a code posted at the stop and get the next departures back. Built visualizations to analyze which stops riders ask about most.

Digital signage for internal & external communications

Implemented a digital signage CMS for rider-facing and staff communications, and worked with vendors to install displays at the Downtown Transit Center and Hammer Triangle Station.

Used a Raspberry Pi to host and schedule audio files and play public announcements throughout the Downtown Transit Center.

Built in an 8-hour hackathon. Combines the Google Maps API with Socket.IO to find places near you and turn them into realtime, Slack-style chatrooms.
